February Rain

Sometimes I find it hard to stay positive when the weather turns south around here. I realize Seattle is most known for its constant rain (as seen in Sleepless in Seattle) but with the weather so beautiful in the summer it's easy to forget how it becomes such a drag come winter and spring. Instead of focusing on outside right now (because there's nothing I can do about the torrential downpour) I am going to focus on the inside (of my house that is.)

Here are some interior inspirations i've been admiring this morning.
I'm loving the all white walls, doors, and door frames. The white and black accents go great with the plants and the wooden chair. This picture reminds me a lot of my bedroom.
Found at this lovely website.

I really adore these neutral colors! and the chandelier is amazing.

If I could have exposed brick in my house I think my whole life would be complete!

More exposed brick!

I also could really use some more plants in my living room.

Snowed In!

Last night the snow started falling around 7:30pm. We have had several nights of little flakes and about a millimeter of snow the next morning only to be washed away by the morning rain. Last night was slightly different though. I woke up for my first full day off from work in a long time to find inches of snow on the ground. For some this is normal, an everyday occurrence even. But for us Seattlites it doesn't snow very often and well . . we tend to panic. That is when you turn on the news and see piles of cars in ditches and power outages from our lack of preparedness for the winter. So today I am not even going to try to get out of my driveway. Today I am going to sip on my coffee, catch up on my book(s) and really take the day off for myself.

Hope everyone is staying warm!

Cozy Interiors

After hearing about all the snow around the world I am getting a little jealous over here in Seattle. We had a "fake" snow day where it snowed about an inch and then it rained within a couple hours. I always idealize snow in my head and picture making hot cocoa and drinking it by the fire with a nice book or being outside making perfect snowmen and having a snowball fight.

Here are some cozy interiors i've been admiring lately and would love to snuggle up in after a storm.

This beautiful interior with white walls, fur and a cozy fireplace looks perfect

I love how soft and bright this room looks

This looks like possibly the most comfortable place to lay down and enjoy a good book at.

Hope everyone stays warm!

2014

I know this is a couple days late but Happy New Year everyone!

Whew! the beginning of the year has already been super busy for me. Working full time, taking classes online, working on projects, making time for friends and family . . all of it is hard to fit in day in and day out. Here are a few of my New Years resolutions. . .

  • Save money, but also invest in things that will last a lifetime (or at least a few years)
  • Move to my favorite part of seattle! (Capitol Hill)
  • Make new friends but don't neglect the old ones
  • Exercise more outside instead of clocking in hours at the gym
  • Find a job that really inspires me and that I can progress at
  • Work more on writing and photographing (two of my biggest passions)

Thanks for listening to my ideas!
What are some of your New Years Resolutions?

American Horror Story

Recently I've heard a lot about something called American Horror Story. Friends would mention in passing time and I never knew if it was a tv series or a movie. Recently I had a sick day and was browsing Netflix to find something to watch as I tried to rest and rejuvenate. I came across American Horror Story and watched the pilot episode and was immediately hooked. I absolutely loved the first season (yes I already finished it) and cannot wait to see the second. Here are a few screen shots from this eerily delightful series.

I love seeing this old victorian house and all of its wonderful character as well as the flashbacks in this show that go as far back as the early 1900s. Jessica Lange plays a big role and has won several oscars and golden globes. Seriously if you haven't seen this show yet you should try it out just in time for Halloween!

Recent Adventures

Aside from working full time at my new job I've had a few opportunities for adventures. Recently my friends and I have been abandoned house hunting (for photo shoot opportunities) to some local beaches and have been hitting up local thrift stores and antique malls as much as possible. It's been fun!
