American Horror Story

Recently I've heard a lot about something called American Horror Story. Friends would mention in passing time and I never knew if it was a tv series or a movie. Recently I had a sick day and was browsing Netflix to find something to watch as I tried to rest and rejuvenate. I came across American Horror Story and watched the pilot episode and was immediately hooked. I absolutely loved the first season (yes I already finished it) and cannot wait to see the second. Here are a few screen shots from this eerily delightful series.

I love seeing this old victorian house and all of its wonderful character as well as the flashbacks in this show that go as far back as the early 1900s. Jessica Lange plays a big role and has won several oscars and golden globes. Seriously if you haven't seen this show yet you should try it out just in time for Halloween!

Recent Adventures

Aside from working full time at my new job I've had a few opportunities for adventures. Recently my friends and I have been abandoned house hunting (for photo shoot opportunities) to some local beaches and have been hitting up local thrift stores and antique malls as much as possible. It's been fun!

Hair Inspiration

One of my favorite singer/actresses currently is Zooey Deschanel. I think she's gorgeous, brutally honest and a hilarious actress. I just adore her in everything! New Girl, 500 Days of Summer, Bones' cousin (love that show) in 2009. Pretty much everything she's ever been in i've enjoyed. So it's no shock that she became my hair inspiration! Going to get some Zooey Deschanel bangs today and I can't wait! Pictures soon.

What I'm listening to this morning

I've loved Iggy forever but I also like Best Coast. Good combination I found this sound from one of my favorite shows True Blood.

It's been a blues-y day here in Seattle with the overcast weather.

Thanks for listening!

Lazy Day

I heard this novel was good from a friend of mine so I picked it up from my local bookstore today.
It's been an amazingly quiet day filled with reading and cups of tea.
Anyone else reading anything interesting?

New job!

I know it's been a while since my last post on here but life has been a little hectic lately. I recently quit my job because in all honestly it really just wasn't "me." I woke up every morning before work on the wrong side of the bed and somehow always left the place still stuck on the wrong side. I know its not practical for someone to quit there job these days but my boyfriend had a steady one and lucky for me . . I got a new job the next day! Yup thats right. I should have bought a lottery ticket that day too.

Now I work at a local coffee house/bar and it is so much fun making coffee and drinks and hosting open mic nights and live shows. Its a lovely job and everything we sell is locally made, grown, and produced. It is so me!

Here is the outside of this adorable coffee spot.

Yard Sale Season!

Some of my favorite things to do as the weather turns nicer is to go to the beach, camp out, have bonfires and go hiking around the beautiful northwest area. These outdoor adventures are usually ridiculously fun and it doesn't hurt to get a little vitamin D. One of my other absolute favorite things to do while the suns out is go to local yard sales!
The great thing about yard sales is that people keep the weirdest things and a lot of the time they end up being vintage or really rare. Unlike Value Village where everything is looked through and priced accordingly most of the time people who have yard sales are just trying to make a little room in their homes for new things, and I love digging through the old stuff!

Just this past weekend I unintentionally started going to yard sales by myself. I was on my way to the store and saw a sign for one and then the signs kept coming and I kept driving! Here's some of the stuff I picked up.

Picked up this mandarin orange umbrella for my deck table and chairs for only 10 dollars!

I am very excited about this Pyrex it is perfect for summer tarts/pies and it was only $1.00

YES I did manage to find some awesome Danskos! Love these shoe i'm not quite sure which style they are they might be a little older but I bought these from one of my neighbors and they're in pretty good shape! Love the cherry red.
& Last but not least this little side table was 5 dollars and its aching to be repainted! I might try a mint green or turquoise.

Thanks for looking!

Summer Drinks!

With the sun peeking out here in Washington i'm getting in the mood for some cooling summer drinks.
Recently I have found some really great recipes that I can't wait to try!
Champagne Grapefruit Mojito from Style Me Pretty Living
I am for sure going to make these mojitos over the weekend for my friends! I love how different they are with the champagne and grapefruit!

THESE non alcoholic Watermelon drinks look refreshing and perfect for Watermelon season!
DIY Starbucks drinks!

And last but not least I am very excited about these recipes for DIY Starbucks drinks. Don't get me wrong I love going out to grab a coffee and I will admit that I do it frequently but the cost can really add up! I am definitely saving this recipe for a day I can save some money and enjoy a Frappuccino at home!

A "Hard Boiled" Egg

Recently I've discovered that baking "Hard Boiled" eggs is much easier and simpler than dragging out the old pot and leaving it on the burner for far too long. I love the simplicity in popping these eggs in the oven and waiting a short period of time for them to come out perfectly cooked without banging into each other in the pot while boiling, leaving them cracked. Follow these simple steps to come out with the perfect eggs.

  • Place your eggs in a glass container or individually in a muffin pan
  • Preheat the oven to 320F degrees
  • Gently place the pan into the oven and let them cook for 30 minutes
  • CAREFULLY remove eggs from the oven (they will be hot & golden brown)
  • Fill your bowl with ice and water
  • Wait unit eggs are cool enough to place gently in ice water for 10 minutes and the peeling process will be much easier

Now you are ready to eat or make something out of your lovely "hard boiled eggs"

I chose to make deviled eggs . . .

Enjoy!
